Cat Ate My Gymsuit, The

Marcy Lewis suffers from low self-esteem and it really isn't surprising. She lives in a truly dysfunctional family. Thirteen year-old Marcy loves her unconventional teacher, Ms Finney who helped her conquer her feelings of insecurity. But, when she is fired for refusing to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Marcy is devastated. So, she begins a campaign to have her reinstated. Defending this teacher allows Marcy to think about what is really important to her and to stand up for what she believes. She is able to mature as a person and begin to date and effects how her mother behaves in the family.
