Jericho's Journey

An historical story about the Wetherby family who leave their home in Tennessee in 1852 for Texas, a land of opportunity for some and misery to others. Jericho, a small and timid 11-year-old narrates the trip filled with humor, suspense, and struggles of a wild terrain. He and his brother both learn self-reliance. They learn to cross bridges without fear and rescue dogs. It becomes "a journey that test the makings of a man." as his father tells him. The story is drawn from an actual settler's diary which gives it a feeling of authenticity.
