No Promises in the Wind

In 1932, 15 year-old Josh and his younger brother, Joey Grandowski are trying to cope with living during the depression. The boys decide to leave their abusive and hunger-stricken home and hitch rides on trains. They struggle to survive by trading work for food. With the help of Lonnie, a friendly truck driver, Josh and Joey manage to find jobs and a place to stay. Josh learns lessons about the importance of family, negative aspects of poverty, and the hardships of love. While facing difficult situations and poverty, Josh remains optimistic. Though stubborn at first, Josh eventually learns to deal with everything that comes his way.
