One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest

The story of life in an Oregon mental hospital, focusing on the tyrannical Big Nurse Ratched and Randle Patrick McMurphy, the patient who resolves to oppose her. McMurphy is a sane man who opted at his trial to be committed rather than do hard labor. He challenges Nurse Ratched's authority and we see it through the eyes of Chief Bromden, the mute half-Indian patient who understands McMurphy's attempt to resist the powers that keep them imprisoned. It shows the hopelessness of the patients. The message is about the treatment of the mentally ill and that man controls his own destiny, but it comes at a price.
