Picture of Dorian Gray, The

After Basil Hallward paints a beautiful, portrait of his friend, Dorian Grey; his subject's frivolous wish to remain young and charming comes true. Dorian's picture grows aged and corrupt while he continues to appear fresh and innocent. Dorian locks the portrait in the attic. Under the influence of his depraved friend, Lord Henry Wotton, he is drawn into a corrupt double life, where he is able to indulge his desires while remaining a gentleman in the eyes of polite society. Only Dorian's picture bears the traces of his decadence. After he kills a young woman, he is surprised to find no difference in his vision or surroundings.
