Sadako and the Thousand Paper Cranes

$6.99
Born in Hiroshima in 1943, Sadako saw the results of the atomic bomb, but it never effected her life personally. Sadako was the star of her school's running team, until the dizzy spells started. Then one day she fainted and was taken to the hospital. There she was diagnosed and treated for the dreaded atom bomb disease, leukemia. Her friend came to visit and explained that there is a legend that if you make 1,000 origami cranes a sick person will become healthy. It was a race against time that Sadako unfortunately lost. The story shows the courage she showed in the face of difficult odds.
