Black and bright, Maleeka has so many problems that her new teacher, Miss Saunders's attentions nearly capsize her stability. Maleeka's mother is still mourning the death of her husband, using her daughter's moral support. At school, Maleeka has to deal with teasing about her skin and her unstylish clothing.
