Taking Sides

Fourteen-year-old Lincoln Mendoza, an aspiring basketball player, comes to terms with his divided loyalties when he moves from the Hispanic inner city to a white suburban neighborhood. Lincoln is in a jam when his basketball team at his new school--where the students are rich and mostly white--faces his old team from the barrio. How can he play against his friends? No matter who wins, it looks like it will be lose-lose for Lincoln. To make matters worse, his new coach has a grudge against Lincoln and his former school. He manages to make peace with his friends and accept new challenges without compromising his individuality.
