Yearling , The

This is a classic story of the Baxter family and their wild, hard, and satisfying life in remote central Florida. Their son, Jody lives with his parents in the animal-filled Florida backwoods. He adopts a fawn, whom he names Flag, that becomes his constant companion over the year. Unfortunately, the deer begins to mature and kill the crops that are the family's livelihood. Jody is forced to make a difficult decision about the fate of a fawn he has lovingly raised as a pet.
