Yellow Raft in Blue Water, A

The book follows three Native American woman: fifteen-year-old part-black Rayona; her American Indian mother, Christine, who is consumed by tenderness and resentment toward those she loves; and the fierce and mysterious Ida, their mother and grandmother whose haunting secrets, betrayals, and dreams echo through the years, braiding together the strands of the shared past. The novel is about their loneliness and despair, resentment and betrayal and hope they learn to forgive and love.
