In this memorable story, Frances decides that bread and jam are all she wants to eat. Her understanding mother stops trying to serve Frances different meals and provides bread and jam for every meal: breakfast, lunch, dinner, and even snack time. Frances finds bread and jam in her school lunch box. Can there ever be too much bread and jam? Finally, Frances agrees she has had too much. She cries at one mealtime and asks for the same spaghetti and meatballs everyone else is eating. From then on she is happy to have something different for every meal.
